How to play

Youngsters must gather around 4 to 5 persons. Then, they walk into the water at the above-mentioned level, and use a short piece of wood or a piece of Sesbania sesban or Egyptian riverhemp tree that is light and floats on the water as a stick “ខ្នាច់”. They use this tree to show all the players clearly that this is the “Kon Kas” and do not confuse it with other pieces of wood. All the players must remove all the wooden sticks in the water at the playing area so that they do not confuse it with their Kon Kas. And they all stand in a circle in the water, placing the stick “ខ្នាច់” in the middle of the circle.

After they are ready, they all dip or pull the stick “ខ្នាច់” out and stop for a while, then they all look for the stick “ខ្នាច់” that floats up and drifts away from them. Whoever finds and catches the stick “ខ្នាច់” first gets to twist the earlobe of everyone else who can’t find it. Before going to twist the earlobe, the one who has found the stick shouts as a signal “Nheach (ញៀច)”. Then, if someone dives into the water, that person is saved.

This game is a game for playing for fun, for training the eyes to be quick and clever in looking for various objects, and it is also a swimming sport.
